Chamber Honors Ten Recipients at December Breakfast

The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce's annual Awards Breakfast was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at the Elmira Country Club.

At the event, sponsored by Elmira Savings Bank and attended by more than 200 members, six were honored with awards:

- Jan Updegraff*, Chemung Canal Trust Company

The ATHENA Award recognizes an individual who actively assists women in realizing their full leadership potential. This award is sponsored by Elm Chevrolet, F.M. Howell and WETM-TV.

Mary E. Kennedy Community Builder Award
- Rick Carr, Chemung Canal Trust Company

The Mary E. Kennedy Community Builder Award honors the outstanding efforts of an individual who has helped enhance the quality of life in our community.

Partners in Education Award - Neil Folnsbee, Corning Credit Union

The Partners in Education Award highlights the efforts of an individual who is working toward the collaboration of business and education on behalf of students and the community.

New Business of the Year - Adam Bunce, Turtle Leaf Café

Celebrates a Chamber member firm that has shown evidence of success and also demonstrated the entreprenurial spirit necessary for long-term success and economic growth.

Member Services Council Ambassador of the Year - Nancy Hendrickson, Image Packaging

The Member Services Council is a volunteer group of Ambassadors of the Chemung Chamber who communicate with Chamber members as well as increase and retain membership.

Living Heritage Award - Barbara Snedecor, Elmira College

The Living Heritage Award honors an individual whose practical interpretation of the community's past generates a new, contemporary awareness and appreciation of local legacies.

Chamber members marking milestone anniversary dates were also honored for their dedication to the community, including Elmira Downtown Development (25 years), Woodbrook Assisted Living (25 years), Economic Opportunity Program (50 years) and Brown & Brown Insurance (75 years).
