Chamber Salutes Local Olympian Molly Huddle With Banner Campaign

Posted July 26, 2012

The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, in a show of support for local Olympian Molly Huddle, recently arranged for the creation and distribution of banners that will be on display at area businesses throughout the coming weeks.

Huddle is an Elmira native who captured multiple state championships in cross-country and track during her time as a student at Notre Dame High School, and was a nine-time All-American at the University of Notre Dame. She qualified for the London Games by finishing second in the women’s 5,000-meter run at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, in June.

The London Games open this Friday, July 27th. Huddle will compete in the Track and Field Qualifying Round on Tuesday, August 7th, which will air between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. EST on NBC. The Track and Field Finals will air during the 8:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. EST time slot on Friday, August 10th. For the most up-to-date broadcast schedule, visit

The black-and-white banners – featuring the slogan “Run, Molly, Run!” – were made available in both 20’ x 5’ and 6’ x 2’ sizes, and numerous organizations have purchased them to help express the community’s best wishes to Huddle.
