The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce’s “Trolley Into Mark Twain Country” begins its 2011 summer tours on Friday, July 1. The trolley is operated as a joint effort between Chemung County Transit and the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, providing tours each summer to promote tourism in our area.

Chemung County Transit Begins Service to DeMet's

The Chemung County Transit System (CCTS) will add bus service beginning June 6th to bring employees to DeMet's Candy Company in Airport Corporate Park. The new service is a response to Chemung County being made aware that new and existing employees needed transportation from Elmira to get to work at DeMet's in Big Flats for their two 12-hour work shifts (6 to 6).  The CCTS mobility manager was able to coordinate efforts and bring the project to fruition. This additional service is being funded in part with Federal transit funding targeted specifically to support transit services to and from work.

Coming from the relative tameness of the suburbs, I loved running free all summer with the other kids and exploring the nearby woods. Now, many years later, as the weather warms and the leaves once again fill the trees, I am drawn to the beauty found in many small towns of upstate New York.
