Chamber's Annual Awards Breakfast to Recognize Achievements of Twelve

The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Elmira Country Club, which is located at 1538 West Church Street. The event is sponsored by Elmira Savings Bank.

The Chamber would like to announce this year’s recipients:

ATHENA AwardJudith G. McIntosh, Mengel, Metzger, Barr & Co., LLP
The ATHENA Award recognizes an individual who actively assists women in realizing their full leadership potential. Sponsored by ELM Chevrolet, F.M. Howell & Company and WETM-TV.

Mary E. Kennedy Community Builder AwardKevin McGurgan, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield
The Mary E. Kennedy Community Builder Award honors the outstanding efforts of an individual who has helped enhance the quality of life in our community.

Partners in Education AwardRenay Meissner, Spencer-Van Etten School District
Highlights the efforts of a school or college teacher, staff member or volunteer who is working toward the collaboration of business and education on behalf of students and the community.

Partners in Education Career Achievement AwardDiane Vang, GST BOCES
Celebrates the career of a retiring individual who has fostered vital connections between business and education, and inspired success for local students.

New Business of the YearSusan and Dennis Edwards, Birdland Brewing Company
Celebrates a Chamber member firm that has shown evidence of success and also demonstrated the entrepreneurial spirit necessary for long-term success and economic growth.

Member Services Council Ambassador of the YearMisty Purdy, Capabilities, Inc.
The Member Services Council is a volunteer group of Ambassadors of the Chemung Chamber who communicate with Chamber members as well as increase and retain membership.

Chamber members marking milestone anniversary dates will also be honored for their dedication to the community, including Visions Federal Credit Union (50 years), Kimble Inc. (50 years), Three Rivers Development Corporation (50 years), Wegmans (100 years), DeMet’s Candy Company (100 years), and Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA (125 years).
