New Nonstop Service to Chicago

At a press conference held today (9/9/13) Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli and Ann Crook, Elmira Corning Regional Airport’s Director of Aviation, announced United Airlines will begin twice-daily United Express service to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) beginning in February of 2014.

“Bringing nonstop flights to Chicago from ELM is great news for our business community who have been requesting this service for quite a while,” said Santulli. “Chicago is a key destination for many local companies and O’Hare is one of the country’s largest hubs offering business, as well as leisure travelers, connections to more than 160 destinations in United’s global route network.”

“This is the result of years of discussion with United and we are very glad it has come to fruition,” said Ann Crook.  “I would like to thank our business partners for providing support and incentives which will boost economic development efforts for the entire region.”

The nonstop daily United Express service from ORD to ELM will be operated by ExpressJet using 50-seat regional jet aircraft and will begin on February 13, 2014. Flights will depart Elmira at 6:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with return service from Chicago at 2:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. daily. Tickets are available for purchase now at www.united.com.

This service would not be possible without the assistance of: Chemung County, Steuben County, Chemung County IDA, Southern Tier Economic Growth, Steuben County IDA, Chemung County Chamber of Commerce and Three Rivers Development Foundation.

ELM to Offer Nonstop Flights to Tampa Bay Area on Allegiant

Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli and Elmira Corning Regional Airport Director of Aviation Ann Crook along with Allegiant Air announced (in August) new, nonstop jet service between Elmira and Tampa Bay via St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, beginning Nov. 1, 2013.

The new flights will operate twice weekly between Elmira Corning Regional Airport (ELM) and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) year-round beginning Nov. 1, 2013. Elmira travelers can take advantage of everyday low fares and save even more when they book air, hotel, car and even activity and attraction reservations together. Flight days and times can be found at www.allegiant.com.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this second nonstop service in the Sunshine State to the residents of our region,” said Chemung County Executive Tom Santulli. “The Tampa/St. Petersburg area is one of the most desirable Florida destinations for travelers in our area and is home to some of the most popular beaches in the State. Direct jet service to Tampa will provide convenient access to the entire Gulf Coast while the nonstop service to Orlando Sanford offers inexpensive access to not only Orlando, but to Florida’s East Coast as well,” added Santulli.

"Elmira Corning has had a long positive relationship with Allegiant. The success we've had with our Orlando service has brought us this opportunity for another great sunshine destination,” said Ann Crook, Director of Aviation at Elmira Corning Regional Airport. “I'm expecting a great response to direct flights to Tampa from the Twin Tiers."
