Tourism Promotion

More than $100,000,000 in travel and tourism monies are imported annually into Chemung County. Beyond the lucrative economic impact of tourism itself, local business and residents enjoy the community attributes generated by those very welcome visitors. Cultural, entertainment, dining and other amenities are enhanced by the travel and tourism market. Locals appreciate the opportunity to enjoy these lifestyle attractions and eagerly share them not only with leisure visitors but also with family, friends and prospective new recruits, investors and partners in the community’s economic progress and prosperity. Everybody wins.

The Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) increases visitation and strengthens the economic base of the county by promoting a positive image of Mark Twain Country as a tourist destination. Among the CVB’s recent promotion efforts over the course of a year:

  • $720,000 in annual Room Tax marketing monies administered by the Chamber of Commerce.
  • $120,000 in tourism-related publications and brochures circulated throughout the region, nation and world.
  • Fifty thousand Chemung County travel guides distributed.
  • Twelve travel writers were hosted by attractions throughout Chemung County.
  • Seven consumer & travel shows featured Chemung County tourism promotion.
  • Three New York City news media and public relations events were hosted by Finger Lakes delegation, including Chemung County representatives.
