Elmira-Corning Regional Airport and thousands of tons of shipping are transported by truck and rail to and through Chemung County. Via Route 17/Interstate 86, Chemung County residents have easy access to the state and federal highway system. Bus and rail service, local access to express shipping services, four national trucking line terminals and three commercial airlines combine to maintain and promote the growth and future of the Chemung County region.
With nearly 110,000 deplanements annually Northwest Airlink and US Airways provide service from the
Elmira-Corning Regional Airport, which is located about 10 miles northwest of Elmira in Big Flats.
Capitol Trailways, New York Trailways and Short Line bus lines serve the region from a main station in Elmira. Local bus transportation is provided by the Chemung County Transit System. Regional train service is provided by Conrail.
