The History of Chemung Canal Trust Company
CCTC’s first headquarters was located at 415 East Water Street, the current site of the Chemung County Historical Society and Chemung Valley History Museum. Come explore the 175 years of the bank's history through an exhibit filled with mementos and artifacts, photographs and memories.
Chemung County Historical Society Members have free admission, admission charges for non-members are $3/Adults, $2/Senior Citizens (55+), $1/Students up to age 18, and children under 5 are free!

Through discussion and pictures, Local Author and Educator Gary Emerson will discuss his book A Link in the Great Chain - a History of the Chemung Canal. Discover the origins, construction and importance of the Chemung Canal, and discuss the demise of the use of this mode of transportation as our local economies evolved and different types of transportation were developed.
There will be no cost to attend this lecture, and those in attendance will have time to tour the museum’s exhibit on the 175th anniversary of Chemung Canal Trust Company.

Ghost Walk!
6:00 p.m.
Join CCHS, Elmira Little Theater and the Friends of Woodlawn Cemetery for the Second Annual Ghost Walk through Woodlawn Cemetery. Your tour will begin at the Chemung Valley History Museum where a trolley will take you to Woodlawn Cemetery for a guided walking tour. During the evening you will hear about Elmira's past as you encounter several cemetery "ghosts."
Participants must be able to walk 3/10ths of a mile, partially downhill. Event takes place at night with limited lighting. Participants are welcome to bring their own flashlights.
Doors open at 6pm, first trolley leaves at 6:30, then every half hour through 8pm. Activities and refreshments will be available at the museum while you wait for your departure time.
