Tangleworthy: Natural Art
9:30 am - 11:30 am
A series of four seasonal workshops created to immerse participants in an aesthetic appreciation of nature. Elmira artist Colleen Carey McCall will introduce participants to the environmental sculptures of British artist Andy Goldsworthy through photographs and a short documentary which shares his process and artistic vision. Participants may recreate a Goldsworthy work or create a unique piece within the theme of Shadow and Light. Materials in winter are somewhat limiting, consisting of sticks, twigs, stones, ice and snow; therefore, the use of light features prominently.Sculptures will remain on display until overcome by environment. This project is made possible, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program administered locally by The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes.
